ABC 13 Investigates Virginia’s Child Care Regulations in Light of Incident in NC

Posted:
Lynchburg, VA – After hearing that a daycare was the front for and alleged porn operation in North Carolina, it may make many nervous about leaving you’re their children when you go to work.

ABC 13 dug a little deeper into what is required of daycare centers in Virginia.

A family day home has to have a license, and that license has to be posted where anyone can see it.

According to the Virginia Department of Social Services, no person listed in the Child Protective Services Central Registry or convicted of a crime involving child abuse, child neglect, or any other offense can be a care giver.

All adult members of the family day household cannot be convicted of the crime, either.

A criminal record check has to be conducted no more than 90 days before the date of an application.

All of the requirements and regulations are laid out in a 73 page document on their website... we have a link to the document here.
