Salem Police Arrest Robbery Suspect


Salem, VA - Salem police have arrested man suspected of robbing a Salem business on Tuesday.

According to police, they responded to a call around 9 pm on Chestnut Street.  When the first officer arrived on scene, the victim was able to give police a description of the suspect as well as the suspect's vehicle.

Officers who were patrolling in the area quickly located the suspect's car.  They arrested and charged 21 year old Exavior Deopalis McCarthy with one count of armed robbery and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Salem police also recovered a BB gun, clothing, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash from the car.

McCarthy is currently being held at the Roanoke County/Salem Jail without bond.
