Policypedia is Third Citizen-Driven Web Platform Launched by Lucy Burns Institute

Madison, WI (PRWEB) July 02, 2014

This week, the Lucy Burns Institute announced the launch of Policypedia, an online encyclopedia of public policy information. The goal of Policypedia is to provide users with useful, accessible information about todays most consequential public policy issues.

Policypedia is sponsored by the Lucy Burns Institute (LBI), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. Founded in 2006, LBI also sponsors Ballotpedia and Judgepedia, online encyclopedias that cover local, state and federal elections and the judiciary.

Policypedia has five initial coverage areas, including energy policy, education policy, public pension policy, state budgets, and electoral reform. Additional areas of coverage will be added in the coming months.

Leslie Graves, president of LBI, says Policypedia will serve as a one-stop shop for individuals interested in learning about the nations most pressing public policy debates. According to Graves, So much of the policy information that exists online is academic in nature, or comes from a partisan viewpoint. Policypedia will cut through the clutter and provide facts and context on key policy issues. It will be a roadmap for voters.

LBIs existing online resources, Ballotpedia and Judgepedia, already provide in-depth coverage of candidates and officials at every level of public office, from mayors and county judges to U.S. Senators and Supreme Court Justices.

Graves explains, Learning about what candidates say they will do is only half the battle. With Policypedia, voters will be able to see the actual policy implications of a given candidates stance.
