UPDATE: Man Charged with Malicious Wounding after Stabbing Woman in Campbell Co.

Campbell Co., VA - A Campbell County woman is fighting for her life and Sheriff's deputies say her husband is the prime suspect in her vicious stabbing.

Investigators with the Campbell County Sheriff's office tell us Jerry Harper, 28, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and two counts of violating a protective order.

Deputies says they responded to a call just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Red House Road and found a woman with multiple cuts and stab wounds.

A neighbor told ABC 13 the day before, the woman had told him how frightened she was when she woke up Monday night to find Harper in the house, violating the protective order she had placed on him days earlier.

Investigators told ABC 13 that on Wednesday morning, Harper returned once again, and stabbed the woman several times.

 “…and Bless her heart, I was here I was down in the basement and she came to my house and I got blood on the door and the door step where she tried to get my attention. I never heard her,” neighbor Thomas Goad said.

The woman was air lifted from the scene. Officials tell ABC 13 it's likely she will survive. The victim has three children who were in the house when everything happened.

Harper may face additional charges, including attempted murder.

Campbell Co., VA - The Campbell County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that took place Wednesday morning.28 year old Jerry Harper is being charged with aggravated malicious wounding and violating a protective order.

According to authorities, officers got to the 800 block of Red House Road just before 10:00 Wednesday morning and found a woman with multiple cuts and stab wounds.

They say three small children were inside the home at the time and the woman had to be airlifted from the scene with significant injuries.
Deputies arrested Harper shortly after.

The two had shared the home at one point but Harper had been ordered not to come on the property.
Investigators believe the woman will survive.
