North Wins Commonwealth Games All-Star Baseball


 Salem - The North All-Stars scored three runs in the fourth to snap a 1-all tie and Loudoun Valley's Jack DeGroat threw a complete game 6-hitter as the North beat the East 4-1 in the gold medal game of the Commonwealth Games All-Star Baseball competition at Kiwanis Field..

DeGroat, who recently committed to Liberty University, induced a game-ending double play in the seventh after the East had loaded the bases with one out.  

It's the fifth-straight year the North has captured the gold medal.  The West won the bronze medal 15-5 over the Central All-Stars.  Salem High rising senior Austin Coolling had two hits and scored two runs for the West, while rising JF senior Zach Duff chipped in a double and scored a run for the West.  The West wrapped up the round-robin competition 2-2 for the weekend.
