UPDATE: New River Ridge Mall Policy Requiring Adult Supervision for Teens Starts Tonight

Posted:
Lynchburg, VA - River Ridge Mall will launch its Youth Escort Policy tonight.  Under the new policy, anyone under the age of 18 will have to be escorted by an adult age 21 or older.

This policy is only for Fridays and Saturdays after 6:00 p.m.  The policy does not affect people who are going to the movie theater. Mall officials say teens who work at the mall will be given an ID.

The policy is designed to provide everyone with a family-friendly and safe shopping experience.

The new policy is intended to curtail the rising number of unsupervised youth hanging out at River Ridge Mall  and related disturbances occurring on the property on Friday and Saturday nights. River Ridge Mall management is implementing the policy in response to feedback from local government, business leaders, and members of the community.
