Update:

Danville, VA - A South Carolina medical examiner has officially made a ruling in the death of 68-year-old Robert Jennings.

The report says Jennings drowned in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.

Jennings' family had said they were told no water was found in his lungs, and they thought it was possible that he suffered a medical emergency in the water.

Jennings' funeral will be held at 11 am on Friday at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Update:

Danville, VA - For Robert Jennings's siblings, being a group of three may be something they can never get used to.Their brother went to the beach Monday morning. It was Stuart Jennings that made the fateful call later that day.

"I called his cell phone and got the nurse at the hospital where he was at and she told me right away that he had drowned, " Stuart said.

The family says a man vacationing in the area saw Robert looking distressed in the water. After pulling him out, the man attempted CPR and paramedics arrived within minutes, but it was too late.

"I'm thinking, he couldn't be revived, is that what you're telling me? He said, 'That's right'," said oldest brother Jim Jennings.

Robert had been an accountant in Danville since the 80's.

His siblings say he was a strong swimmer, in good health, who enjoyed reading and learning new things.

"Everybody that knew him would say that he was a man of great integrity. Absolutely. You could trust him with your life, " Jim said.

The family has already seen their share of tragedy in the last several months.

Sister Barbara lost her stepdaughter last year in a murder-suicide at Smith Mountain Lake, and Jim Jennings' nephew was killed in Afghanistan last December.

Now, they will draw strength from each other as they try to move forward without their beloved brother.

"I wish I could just speak to him one more time," said sister Barbara Swanson.

The family is waiting on the results of an autopsy completed this afternoon.

His siblings were initially told that no water was found in his lungs. They believe it's possible Jennings suffered a medical emergency in the water.

A visitation will be held Thursday at 7 pm at Fairview United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at the church Friday at 11 am.
