Roanoke, VA - It was a contrast in times at the Virginia Museum of Transportation Friday as the Greater Roanoke Transit Company unveiled buses that run on bio-fuel.
For years Valley Metro has considered the move but costs got in the way.
Not only are the nine new buses clean diesel buses but they also have features that make them easier to board.
As part of the unveiling Roanoke's very first diesel powered transit bus, which has been restored, was also on display.
"We just thought the contrast would be a great thing because people forget how lucky we are and how far we have come at times and this is a good example of being able to show that," said museum executive director, Bev Fitzpatrick
Lynchburg already uses the same type of bus although they use hybrid power. Richmond is also on board but uses natural gas.
