UPDATE:  According to the Sheriff's office 19-year-old William Clements and 18-year-old Zachary Trent crashed near Dairy Lane after speeding away from police. EMS crews took both teens to Lynchburg General where Trent later died.

William Clements' father David says his son has always had a passion for motorcycles and rode them for years. "He and his friends love to ride. He just got this motorcycle not long ago just a few days ago" said David Clements.

However, when he drove up on the accident on Route 29 Sunday evening he never though he would see that bike on the side of the road. "I lost it when I saw it ... cause I knew it was him" said Clements.

David Clements says he immediately drove to the hospital, that's when he heard William's passenger, Zachary Trent, had died.

"Zach was a real good person. He came up here with William a lot of times and he's one of the sweetest kids you'll meet" said Clements.

According to the Amherst County Sheriff's Office, a deputy tried several times to pull Clements over for speeding but Clements continued to accelerate, leading to a chase.

Officers say they lost sight of the two after reaching a road block and moments later, they came upon the crash. "He's got road rash all over him and he might have a concussion" said Clements.

David Clements says doctors expect his son to make a full recovery. As for the motorcycle, the Sheriff's Office says someone reported it stolen from the Amherst area on July 10th.
