Man Arrested After Campbell Co. Church Break-in

Campbell Co., VA- Campbell County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Lynchburg man Friday morning in connection with a break-in at the First St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 2355 Brookneal Highway.

Major L.T. Guthrie told ABC 13 that 40 year old, Matthew Thomas Beale, of Lynchburg is charged with felony larceny, destruction of property and burglary.

Investigators were called to the church at 11:46 Friday morning, after a church officer contacted authorities.

Investigators found damaged interior doors and food missing from the kitchen.

Major Guthrie said it's "unlikely," that Guthrie came with the intent of stealing just the food. Earlier that morning, investigators charged Beale with violation of a protective order and assault in connection with a separate domestic violence case, Guthrie said.

Beale is in the Campbell County Jail without bond. His bond hearing is Wednesday.
