Concord Man Convicted Of More Than 50 Child Porn Charges Could Spend Life Behind Bars

Posted:

Campbell County, VA- A Concord man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after a judge found him guilty of more than 50 charges involving child pornography yesterday.

Darrell Delp faced a slew of charges in all in connection with child pornography. According to Campbell County Commonwealth's Attorney Paul McAndrews, Delp was convicted of 1 count production of child pornography and 59 counts of production of child pornography second offense. He was also convicted of 10 counts aggravated sexual battery.

The Commonwealth's Attorney says that Darrell Delp was married to Melissa Delp, which may ring a bell since she's the woman charged in the child tattoo case that's ongoing in Campbell County.

Melissa Delp is charged with child abuse and malicious wounding because the Sheriff's Office says she did nothing to stop her live-in boyfriend, Daniel Janney from trying to remove tattoos from her daughters with a hot razor blade. Janney was supposed to be on trial today but that was continued.

Darrell Delp is currently being held at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center without bond. His sentencing date will be set on September 8th, and these convictions have heavy sentences.

We asked the Commonwealth’s Attorney what the maximum sentence Delp could be facing and then did the math. If he is sentenced to the maximum for each charge-- he'd be looking at two thousand five hundred and 90 years.
