Lynchburg - Heritage and Northside squared off in a benefit game exhibition Thursday night at Lynchburg City Stadium.
Northside's K.J. Mitchell scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead. New Northside quarterback Josh Hardister later made a great scramble and picked up 30 yards but the Heritage defense would keep the Vikings out of the end zone.
Jamik Alexander came up with an interception in the end zone for Heritage in the second quarter, the first stringers played the first half, second and third-stringers the second half.
Heritage third-stringers scored with 13 seconds left but Northside held on to win 7-6. Both teams open their regular seasons next Friday night. Northside plays at Amherst County, Heritage opens at Patrick County.
