Plans To Fast-Track Railroad Crossing Updates

Posted: Updated:

Keeping you and your family safe.

The Governor wants to push up plans to improve railroad crossings across the state.

Mary Fallin's announcement came Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

She's fast-tracking the project, accelerating the plan by 12 years.

More than 300 crossings on highways and roads will get upgraded.

Fallin says, too many of the signs are faded and not easily seen by the public.

"At times, there could be a 250-ton rail locomotive that could be coming across that track. And there are times that maybe our traveling public isn't paying as much attention as they should. So we want to do everything we can to make sure our traveling public is safe."

Repairs and updates to the crossings will cost more than $100,000,000.
