Danville - Johnson City held Danville to just one hit and edged the Braves 2-1 Wednesday night in the opener of the best-of-3 Appalachian League Championship Series.
Danville, after taking two straight from Princeton to win the East Division title, fell behind in the first. Casey Grayson's double to right scored two and the Cardinals grabbed a quick 2-0 lead, they would not score again.
The D-Braves got one back in the fifth on a wild pitch, Tanner Krietemeier scored all the way from second.
But Johnson City pitchers Juan Perez and Kender Villegas combine on a 1-hitter as the Cardinals take the opener. Danville must win Thursday night at Johnson City to stay alive, the Cardinals can clinch the league championship with a victory at home.
